Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: How and why do insulated glass windows fail?
A:  When people talk about failed windows they are really referring to the air-tight seal that bonds the two (or three) pieces of glass to the
spacer beneath the window frame. There are two types of sealed unit failures; complete or true seal failure- is a continual opening or
separation of the seal allowing the external free flow of air and moisture between the window panes causing a perpetual wetness. This
type of failure is not repairable and the window unit must be replaced; intermittent seal failure- is caused typically by the expansion and
contraction of the sealed air space due to the external environmental influences of heat and cold as well as exposure to direct sunlight.
This expansion and contraction is referred to as solar-pumping and causes the windows to physically bow out when heated and to flex
in (concaving) when cooled. This physical glass expansion and contraction puts pressure on the seal and can eventually lead to
intermittent leakage of air/moisture which becomes trapped between the sealed panes. In time, the humidified air that leaks in will
manifest into a fog or water drops between the panes leading to reduced window clarity and eventual etching of the glass resulting in
permanent and irreparable damage.

Q: What are our options if we have failed windows?
A: You have four options:
  1. Do nothing. The window(s) will continue to deteriorate to an irreparable state while losing insulating value affecting your home
    heating and cooling bill.
  2. Call us and let us address your window issues to save you money. 228-596-7032
  3. Replace the individual glass panes of the unit which does not address the root cause. The problem will re-occur in time.
  4. Replace the entire window unit and frame. Window King has over 30 years experience on the Mississippi Coast installing windows and doors.

Q: Is it true that once my windows become fogged that I need to have them replaced?
A: No…not any longer. Our process will address the issues that are causing the fog and condensation build-up and will alleviate the
need for window replacement in many cases. You already paid for your windows. Why not restore them and prolong their life?

Q: How can I tell if my insulated windows are failing and need restoration?
A: We provide a thorough inspection and evaluation of your insulated windows prior to initiating our process. We will determine the stage
of window pane deterioration (if any) due to prolonged and continuous moisture exposure. Your options and expected outcomes will be
discussed in detail so an informed decision can be made as to how you want to proceed.

Q: What is the typical cost of restoration as compared to having the windows replaced?
A: The typical restoration costs are about ⅓ - ½ that of window replacement. The size and complexities of the glass unit will be the major
factor in determining final costs. All estimates of work will be fully explained and approved in writing by you before any work is begun.
